3. Purposes of processing
- Provide, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Site.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland where applicable)
Depending on context, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract — processing necessary to provide the Service you request (for example, operating your account).
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, product improvement, internal analytics, and asserting legal claims, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — where we expressly ask for it (for example, non-essential cookies or marketing email where required).
- Legal obligation — where processing is required by law.
5. How we share personal information
We may share personal information with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under written terms (for example: hosting, database, email delivery, logging, security scanning).
- Professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, insurers) under confidentiality.
- Law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to confidentiality and applicable notice requirements.
- With your direction — for example, if you choose to share content publicly on the Site, or if you invite attorneys or family members to a private case workspace. Shared access and activity are logged and visible to the workspace owner. You control who has access and can revoke it at any time.
We do notsell your personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as a data broker. If we introduce advertising or analytics that constitutes "sale" or "sharing" under U.S. state laws, we will update this Policy and provide legally required controls.
6. U.S. state privacy rights (including California)
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you, to opt out of certain processing, and to appeal our decisions. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights where prohibited by law.
California residents (CPRA). In the preceding twelve months, we may have collected identifiers (email, IP), commercial information (account activity), internet or electronic network activity (logs), geolocation data (coarse), and inferences drawn from the above. Categories of sensitive personal information: we do not intentionally collect SPI as defined in CPRA for profiling or resale. You may submit requests to [email protected]. We will verify your request consistent with applicable law.

Other states: Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states are adopting similar laws. We apply this Policy consistently; submit requests to [email protected] and we will respond in line with applicable requirements once in effect for our operations.
7. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes in Section 3, including security logs, backups, and legal compliance. Retention periods vary by data type: for example, account data is kept until you delete your account and for a reasonable period thereafter for backups and legal holds; server logs may be retained for a shorter rolling window unless extended for an investigation.
8. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. and other jurisdictions that may not provide equivalent protections to your home country. Where required, we will use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Automated decision-making and profiling
We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means with respect to consumers in jurisdictions that prohibit such processing without safeguards. Certain scores or visualizations are informational aggregates and may use rules-based calculations; they are not a substitute for human judgment about fitness for legal representation.
